Hey everyone in the BCM sphere, my name is Russ and this is my second year in my degree here at UOW. To me being a university student since the start of last year has been about combining the things I am passionate about and have had success with in the past, such as writing and news reporting, with things I need to improve as the industries I want to be employed in evolve, such as use of technology and social media. It has also thrown me into being more independent in living, but also in thinking and in the way I approach tasks in what is a very diverse and creative degree. It has also taught me to be more aware of people in the industry I want to enter, which is sports writing, and observe how they are able to have an online and physical presence depending on the type of work that they produce. I am looking forward to working in person with my classmates this year to combine some of the skills we all developed last year with actual human interaction and friendship as we go along in our course.
